On this episode of Thriving Beyond Belief, Cheryl Scruggs welcomes Hannah Keeley

Hey there! I’m Hannah … a mom of seven, a wife of one, and a lover of Jesus. I believe there is God-given greatness in everyone. And I have an insatiable desire to help them discover this and let the world see who they really are. Oh, and I’m crazy about helping moms.

“Because I know what it’s like.”

After a few kids, I found myself out of shape, overwhelmed, deep in debt, and surrounded by clutter. I knew something had to change when I found myself sobbing uncontrollably in the laundry pile (at least it was clean laundry).

“When I realized no one was going to come in and rescue me, I decided to rescue myself.”

With God’s Word and bull-headed determination, I was able to create a better life for myself. In fact, better than I ever imagined. Now I help moms everywhere do the same.

About Amber:

Born and raised in California, I love the combination of city life and outdoor living that is ideal for a Boy-Mom who is raising men.

Raised in a home that taught the Bible, table manners, and a love for the beach, I find myself passing those ideals on to the next generation. (Though with four sons, table manners are always a work in progress!)

More than anything, I want to live up to my God-given potential. And I want that for my friends, family, readers, and clients too! That’s why I write about gentle parenting, thriving marital relationships, and how to live a healthy lifestyle — all with practical and biblical truth!

Personally, my most cherished moments are when I’m reading and praying in my hammock, sipping sparkling water, while talking on the phone with a close friend, or spending long slow days at the beach with my family to rest and rejuvenate.

Thriving Beyond Belief Book with Cheryl Scruggs (Chapter 1)

1024 576 Thriving Beyond Belief

Excerpt from Thriving Beyond Belief: Courageous, Rooted, Thriving Women

Quote from Chapter 1:

“LIFE, MARRIAGE, SINGLENESS, WORK, PARENTING,

and relationships can be hard and the struggle is real. But I know women who are learning to thrive in the midst of it all. This book you’re holding is an outlier. It frames thriving in a new way. And it paints a different picture of abundant living and prosperity than what you often hear.

My vision is for women to live an abundant life from the inside out in every area and practice the lost arts of being a vibrant human being. I envision woman who are energized and enjoying more of what matters most spiritually, emotionally, physically, mentally, and relationally. I want to show women in practical ways how to “be known” to themselves and to others as they really are and learn to be vulnerable. I’ve seen it happen time after time in my work with women over the years. Real, lasting satisfaction comes from women knowing who they are—and accepting what they discover about themselves. And it starts with knowing who God made them.”

– Cheryl Scruggs, Author of the new book Thriving Beyond Belief

Erica Wiggenhorn

1024 576 Thriving Beyond Belief

Everyone thinks you’ve got it together. But inside, you’re asking, “Am I enough?”

No matter how good we look to others, the nagging voice of self-doubt is hard to shake. We ask questions like:

  • If people really knew me would they still accept me?
  • Will I be rejected when I can’t perform?
  • Can I pull this off?
  • What if I end up alone?
  • Am I missing out on what life should be because I can’t shake this fear?

If you find yourself having thoughts like these, Erica Wiggenhorn wants to lead you to freedom. Drawing from the story of Moses—the greatest self-doubter in the Bible—Erica shows how self-doubt is tied closely to self-reliance. It’s only when you cast yourself on God that you find the true source of strength.

Are you enough? The answer is no . . . but your God certainly is. Step out in His power instead of your own and watch your confidence blossom because you’re in the hands of I AM.

016: Chrissie Dunham

1024 683 Thriving Beyond Belief

My guest on the TBB Podcast today is my very good friend Chrissie Dunham.

Chrissie was born in Oklahoma but has made her home in Plano, Texas with Charlie, her husband, and high school sweetheart.  They have two grown daughters, Katie and Abbie, who are both married and have given Chrissie and Charlie five grandchildren.

She is the Global Director of Women’s Ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church, cherishes time with her family, is a terrific communicator, does speaking engagements, and has led countless women’s bible studies. Chrissie is passionate about her walk with the Lord and lives by her favorite slogan, “The Party Don’t Stop!” She hopes every believer knows that eternal life begins when you meet Jesus and there is a party in heaven in your honor, forever!

To define thrive Chrissie refers to 2Peter:1-2 “His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him.” Bottomline, God wants us to prosper and succeed. But, the reality of life creates a struggle in our relationships, marriages, and parenting. In Chrissie’s daily walk she has found that women struggle in four common areas;  Am I loved, will I be respected, what is my significance, and do I feel secure in who I am?  To answer any of these questions Chrissie believes that every woman should start by asking herself the question, “How is my walk with the Lord today?”

Daily, Chrissie listens to women and understands that life is challenging but wants those struggling to know you must run your own race and fix your eyes on Jesus, regardless of the circumstances you face in life.  Through the years, Chrissie’s parents have given her practical advice and one of the things her mom told her about relationships is that you need to surround yourself with people who believe like you, pray, and be in God’s word daily. Chrissie strives to live this advice out in her daily walk.

In our interview, we talk about fear, marriage, and Christmas traditions!  As expected, I got exactly what I love so much about Chrissie, if you ask a question, she answers from her heart.  We had a great conversation and I can’t wait for you to listen in!
